Business activities were paralysed for a good part of last week in the port city of Apapa as a result of bad roads and heavy rain that created flash floods and hampered free flow of traffic in the area. This was even as two commercial buildings situated along Warehouse Road were razed by fire in the early hours of Wednesday.
A commuter, who identified himself as Jide, said he left his house at Ikotun at about 6 a.m. but did not get to Tin Can Island Port until 12.30 p.m.
“I have never seen this kind of traffic before. Apapa is bad for traffic but this is worse. It is has spoilt the whole day for me. I’m just thinking now of how to go back home,” he said.
